As a young writer, I dreamed of penning the next great American novel. Every time I put my name on a piece of writing I figured I was one step closer to the literati, just heartbeats away from becoming an acclaimed author. But, what happened was even better. I wrote a book about socks! Specifically, how to wear them. Published as part of Abrams bestselling “How To Wear…” series, this tongue-in-cheek guide to every foot’s favorite accessory touches on everything from ancient hosiery to the world’s most famous pairs. Regrettably, it was published just weeks after the world shut down for Covid, which wasn’t the greatest. But, I will always have bragging rights that it’s sold in museum gift shops all over the world. It’s a great joy to say “my work is in the Tate London,” at cocktail parties. (And it’s not all together untrue!)
